Visit the cathedral in the main square to admire the ornate decorations before heading to the palacio nacional – home of the President. In the afternoon, learn all about the story and mythology of Mexico in the National Anthropology Museum before enjoying panoramic views of Paseo de la Reforma.

Day 3: Mexico City

Day 4:  Guadalupe Shrine, Teotihuacan – Puebla

Experience the Guadalupe Shrine and learn why this national shrine lures millions of pilgrims annually.  Later, drive to one of the most important archeological sites in Mexico, Teotihuacan, to marvel at some of the most impressive pyramids in the world. See the Sun and Moon pyramids, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Avenue of the Dead, and learn all about the Aztecs. Enjoy lunch on site and drive to Puebla in the evening.

Day 5: Puebla – Oaxaca

In the morning, discover Puebla’s downtown , a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the majority of buildings are decorated with tiles and beautifully sculpted freestone. Also see its majestic cathedral in  the main Square, the Rosario chapel, considered the eighth wonder of the art world. After exploring charming Puebla, drive to Oaxaca in the evening.

Day 6: Oaxaca

Experience a cooking class from a local. Pilar Cabrera, the chef, is passionate about Oaxacan culture and has 26 years of experience in the kitchen. The class starts with a short tour of the local markets where travellers will shop for their ingredients. Then, its back to the kitchen for a step-by-step masterful guide in how to prepare the meals, with plenty of references to local culture and traditions to help bring out the deeper meaning of the dishes. And, of course, enjoy the creations!

Day 7: Oaxaca City Tour

Admire the Governor’s palace, the cathedral in Hidalgo Square, the Alcala pedestrian walk, and the theatre building. In the afternoon, reach the archaeological site of Monte Albán. Here, observe the remins of the former ceremonial centre and main city of the Zapotec culture. The temple grounds also provide nice views over the city of Oaxaca and the central valley.
