A Tribute to a Visionary Leader's Legacy
In celebration of our friend, colleague, and leader, Eileen Yee, who unexpectedly left us, Discova has established an educational fund in her honour. Eileen was known for her pink hair, infectious smile, relentless positive energy, and unwavering passion for educational travel and local communities at our Asian destinations. Those close to her at Discova affectionately nicknamed her "101", reflecting the Chinese pronunciation of her name. It is fitting to use this special number as a symbol to inspire us to dream big, strive for more, and create lasting impact in the communities we work in. Eileen was passionate about setting ambitious goals, which led to the creation of our first initiative: Project 101.

Our Mission to Empower Futures
Provide a positive and measurable impact on local communities and the environment through an itinerary that aligns with your Corporate Social Responsibility goals.

How it Works
The scholarship grant will provide financial assistance toS students at our Asian destinations, enabling them to successfully complete their three-year high school education. For as little as USD300.00 per year, students can receive access to all the materials and equipment they need for school, including a bicycle, a backpack, a uniform, and all the stationery they require for their studies.

Why High School Education?
The UN estimates that by 2030, 84 million children and young people will be forced to stay out of school. There can be due to socio-economic pressures and hidden costs associated with education. In many Asian families facing financial hardships, there is pressure on young people to earn and contribute to the household, thereby prioritising immediate income over long-term educational benefits. Additionally, even when school tuition is technically free, the hidden costs of schooling—such as transportation, uniforms, and tutoring—can be prohibitive for low-income families. These financial barriers can limit access to education for many young people in Asia, perpetuating cycles of poverty and limiting future opportunities for millions of young people.

Student Selection Process
In collaboration with teachers and local communities, students from low-income backgrounds will be identified and invited to apply for the financial assistance. To be awarded, these students must complete an interview process, demonstrating their commitment to education. And a personal statement detailing how the financial aid will benefit them and their community.

What Does Your Donation Support?
Your donation will cover essential non-tuition expenses that hinder education, varying by country. In Indonesia, it might fund books and uniforms; in Vietnam, transport and meal allowances; and in Thailand, resources for university admission or life-skills learning. This ensures students in different regions overcome specific challenges and access education. No administrative fees apply, so 100% of your donation goes directly to helping students.

Our Commitment to Childsafe, Transparency and Reporting
As a ChildSafe-certified provider and a leader in Educational Travel across Asia, Discova is well-equipped to implement this programme. In areas where we lack on-the-ground personnel and structure, we will collaborate with partner organisations to execute our plans. A fund impact report will be published and shared with donors every six months.

How To Donate
There are two ways you can help support the Eileen Yee Educational Fund. The first one is to make monthly contributions which can be invoiced to you monthly, or you can provide a once-off donation. To make a secure donation to support the fund please click 'Donate' below.
