We are incredibly proud of our people. Not only are they at the top of their game, but they also always put Discova partners first. Here are a few of the friendly faces you’ll be working with:
I love things to be a bit unconventional. In fact, that’s what first attracted me to the travel industry. After completing an MBA in finance, my journey in travel began over 20 years ago in Brisbane when I joined Flight Centre Travel Group. Now, I lead Discova – a DMC with a reputation for originality. I am incredibly proud of our people, the industry-leading service we provide, and our shared values that reflect a commitment to build a sustainable future for travel and the communities we work with.
My career in travel began in 2007 when I spent four years working overseas in Spain, Mexico & France. A keen traveller, I have explored all seven continents and fulfilled a lifelong ambition by finally reaching Antarctica in 2018 – an amazing experience. I live in Hampshire, UK with my French Bulldog George, and two cats Rocky & Bear… I have developed quite the zoo in the last few years. I’m a big foodie, loving being outdoors with nature…and partial to a gin & tonic!
I joined the Discova family 8 years ago but I discovered my true passion for travel when I was sitting on a night train from Hanoi to Hue, during my second year of university. The 15-hour train ride made me look up and notice the beauty of my own country for the first time. 10 years later, my love for travel has been nurtured and I still enjoy the magic of a train ride. My last one was to Edinburgh where my husband proposed!
I’m Australian born but now I call California home. I fell in love with travel getting lost around Thailand and driving around Europe as a teenager. When I visit a new city, I am all about finding the best spot for morning coffee and the perfect place to enjoy an ice-cold afternoon beer. I’m naturally drawn to beaches too, as I feel at home by the ocean. Although, on the weekend, you might also find me on the golf course or hiking through a new trail in L.A.
I left my homeland of South Africa 28 years ago to travel the world. Five continents and over 65 countries later, and I feel like I’m achieving my goal. Naturally, I gravitated towards the travel business, where I’ve been lucky to draw experience from across the industry. I’ve worked as a tour leader, travel agent, product manager, operations manager and now, as EMEA Sales Manager for Discova – helping our partners achieve their business goals.
I’ve lived abroad nearly my entire adult life, first in France, then Scotland, then Cameroon, and for the last 8 years, Vietnam, but I’m a California boy in my soul. I’m passionate about our earth, and I do my best to ensure that my nephews and nieces will be able to experience the same natural wonders that I treasure so much. I am a proper weekend warrior, and love the sense of a DIY project that is complete (or 90% complete, in many cases). I’m also a massive fan of anything requiring costume or theme outfit – I have an entire closet with costumes at home, because you never know when you are going to need to attend a safari or disco theme party.
I was bitten by the travel bug while doing a grad trip in Europe 27 years ago. After that, I joined the travel industry and there has been no looking back! There are so many elements to the industry, and I have tried almost all – from MICE, educational and student travel, leisure travel, product planning, trip leading, training, to now my favourite, Destination Management. My biggest motivation is development; this could be building our partners’ businesses, expanding our own operations or helping our people grow their careers. Changing as the world changes is how I like to lead. Connecting people hearts and minds is the result I like to see.
With over 11 rewarding years with Discova, I am one of the longest service senior leaders. My home is Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam and I love my city. The hustle, bustle, and the never-ending traffic, it’s so full of energy. But Hanoi is beautiful too, dotted with many idyllic lakes, which I tend to use as landmarks when someone asks me for directions. However, I have come to realise that most out-of-towners find my instruction puzzling as I take these lovely lakes for granted.
I’ve always had thirst for exploring the great unknown, so I found my passion for travel at a very early age. And I still love new adventures, whether that’s moving my life from Australia to New York so I could pursue my dream career in travel, or kayaking with killer whales in Canada (my favourite ever travel experience). Now I’m exploring again, this time in Mexico where I live with my adorable French Bulldog rescue called Miller (like the beer).
My name is Peter Christiansen. I grew up in a small rural village in Denmark, a carpenter by trade until the call of travel tempted me away. Today, I live and work in Bali, overseeing Discova operations across Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos. I still enjoy working with my hands, which is why I have been so involved with our local community projects here on the island. I often think how strange for a kid from rural Denmark to end up here, but my journey with Discova is far from over, and our future is looking very bright.
