Jungle Camp Kids Activities

The Most Family-friendly Resorts in Our Asia Destinations

May 31, 2022

We know that when you design a family trip, the factors you take into consideration may look quite different from those involved in a solo, honeymoon or GIT experience. How do you start making a family vacation as comfortable and seamless as possible for your clients? Finding the right accommodation is one step.

While families may spend significant parts of the day exploring outside of their accommodation stay, children, particularly the youngest ones, may tire of day-long excursions. Resorts and hotels are there to offer kids, as well as their parents, a chance to stay comfortably put when needed. We’ve picked five of our most family-friendly resort partners in Asia to make creating that balanced family holiday simpler for you.

1. Khao Sok Eco Resort, Jungle Camp – Thailand

At the resort's Jungle Life Camp, kids experience creative learning activities centred on Khao Sok's biodiversity

This eco-friendly resort is one for the nature lovers and families interested in responsible tourism. Nestled in one of Thailand’s best protected habitats, Khao Sok National Park, the resort offers four different nature-inspired accommodation types: Treehouses, Riverside Bungalows, Earth Houses, and Bamboo Huts. These rustic yet modern accommodations are built from bamboo and renewable materials.

What is particularly special here is the array of kids activities on offer in the Jungle Life Camp. Kids can help out on the resort’s organic farm, enjoy jungle crafts and go on mini hikes (whilst parents can relax with unique jungle yoga experiences). It’s here that families can really delve into one of 2022’s biggest travel trends – experiential travel.

Parents know that their kiddies are eating mindfully-sourced meals here. Healthy dishes are made using ingredients from the property’s organic farm, or locally-sourced, seasonal produce. Cooking classes are available to those interested in learning about the resort’s farm-to-table process.

When families visit the Jungle Camp, they also help to subsidize an on-site nature camp for Thai children. During the camp, local children receive free sustainability education and gain a deeper appreciation for nature. A stay here, therefore, also means that guests can give back to the communities they visit.

2. Sunwing Kamala Beach Resort – Phuket, Thailand

Lollo the Giraffe and an array of activities keep kids entertained at Sunwing

Sunwing doesn’t call itself ‘The Ultimate Family Resort’ without reason. This luxurious, Travelife Gold certified (supporting sustainability in tourism) property entirely orientates its facilities and activities to catering to the well-being and happiness of families.

The resort has its own mascots, Lollo the Giraffe and Bernie the Bear. They are always on hand to amplify the fun during kiddie activities, like treasure hunts and kids’ aerobics classes. To make planning family activities even easier, the beach resort provides a Holiday Planner for convenience.

Another awesome feature of the resort are its Happy Baby Studios. These rooms are specifically designed for families with babies! They are always on ground level with an enclosed terrace and gate that can be locked, and come equipped with baby cot, baby high chair, stroller, nursing mat, baby resting chair, and more.

3. Holiday Inn Resort Benoa Bali – Indonesia

Holiday Inn's four pools and water activities offer epic fun in the sun for the whole family

This resort has a wonderful approach to children – they stay for free! The policy here is that kids ages 12 and under stay for free when sharing their parents’ room, and up to four kids ages 12 and under eat free any time of the day in an on-site restaurant.

Moreover, there is a Kids Club that is open from 9am to 5pm and 6pm to 9pm daily with a slide, climbing zones, costumes, arts and crafts, and lots of toys to play with. Parents can also make use of the resort’s babysitting and nanny services.

The Bali resort also boasts a gym and spa if parents want to unwind while children take part in one of the many activities on offer. And if quality time together is what they’re after, the beautiful Tanjung Benoa Beach offers fun in the sun, building sandcastles or playing in the water.

4. Bali Dynasty Resort, Kuta, Bali – Indonesia

Large family rooms are designed to accommodate your travellers' young ones at Bali Dynasty

This beachside resort is renowned for its warm hospitality and is highly-rated for its family services. It’s got plenty on offer, with 6 restaurants and 5 bars, as well as 4 swimming pools, luxury spa, beach corner, free kids’ and Teens Club, and a kids’ playground.

The property’s rooms also cater for families, with some sleeping up to 6 guests, and like the Holiday Inn Resort Benoa Bali, kids here too can eat for free! Kids 12 years old and under eat for free when accompanied by the same number of full paying adults at the rotating H2O Restaurant Daily Theme Buffet Dinner.

For families looking to explore beyond Bali Dynasty, the resort offers several adventure excursion options, and if parents would like some time just for themselves, they could make use of the babysitting service.

5. Parkroyal Penang Resort – Malaysia

The Parkroyal's waterpark and pools are definite highlights

The Parkroyal has been rated as the best family-friendly beach resort in Penang, Malaysia. While parents relax at the resort’s St. Gregory Spa or hit the gym, children can spend their time at the fun Amazonia Kid’s Club or the water themed park. The children’s pool here features a baby wading pool for the little ones and two giant waterslides for older children.

The property has rooms catered just for families too, with spacious one-bedroom and two-bedroom sea view family rooms that have their own private balcony.

The resort is also optimally located and offers tours and activities for day excursions. The Entopia Butterfly Farm and Escape Theme Park are especially great visits for kids, and nearby UNESCO sites could make for exciting learning experiences.
