A Celebration of Love, Legacy, and Giving Back

October 24, 2025

By Natalie Vine, Chief Purpose Officer at Discova

Every October, something special happens at Discova. The offices light up in pink, laughter fills the corridors, there’s music, costumes, and community. Amongst all that wonderful colour and energy, there’s a shared story that unites us.

The Eileen Yee Educational Fund Pink Week began as a tribute to Eileen, our friend, colleague, and beautiful soul taken too soon. There’s a lot of sadness that comes with losing someone so young and so full of life, but what’s truly special is how we’ve turned that loss into something joyful. It’s great that we celebrate in such a fun and vibrant way that still honours Eileen’s passions in life.

Pink week started as a week of remembrance and is now woven into the rhythms of our Discova celebrations. We have grown a lot since our first Pink Week in 2024, many of our colleagues today never met Eileen, but it’s amazing to see them join in, laugh, give, and carry her spirit forward. It’s no longer just about those who knew her; it’s become a Discova ritual, part of who we are. Pink Week reminds me that giving back can be colourful, funny, loud, and full of life, just like Eileen.

More Than Pink

This year, we raised over SGD 3,000 and launched new activities that spread Eileen’s legacy even further. Our friends at FCM refurbished a load of computers for a high school in Cambodia, creating an entire computer lab.

We also ran a food drive, donating food to rural families across Southeast Asia. What made that food drive so special was how naturally it came together. We didn’t assign volunteers or schedule shifts, we just shared the idea, and our people ran with it. Sometimes, community impact doesn’t come from big, long-term projects like our amazing Discova Community Development projects. Sometimes people just need to know where next week’s meals are coming from.

Each regional team found their own ways to honour Eileen. In Thailand, our colleagues supported a breast cancer survivors’ charity, sewing prosthetic breasts into bras to donate across Bangkok. The office turned into a sewing circle, people chatting, laughing, and helping others, the perfect reflection of Pink Week’s spirit.

A Week of Joy, Reflection, and Connection

Every day of Pink Week has a theme:

  • Day 1: Paint yourself pink; from hair dye (yes, guilty!) to sneakers.
  • Day 2: Celebrate Eileen’s love of Learning and lean a new language (Japanese) from our colleagues in Japan!
  • Day 3: Our Helping Hands Food Drive where we came together to prepare care packages for those in need within our local communities.
  • Day 4: The launch of our Wall of Kindness, a virtual message board where teammates shared gratitude and positivity from around the world.
  • Day 5: We wrapped up an amazing week with our Pink Party. Drinks, pizza, and lots of delicious potluck dishes for a day filled with laughter and friendship.

Through all the activities, what strikes me every year is how connected everyone feels. It’s not about formality or corporate giving; it’s about friends sharing, creating, remembering, and doing good.

Looking Ahead

This December, we’re hosting a Pink Fun Run in Cambodia during the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon 2025, another great way to celebrate and raise funds. Every dollar raised helps support the high school education of disadvantaged students across our grassroots communities, keeping Eileen’s dream alive, helping others learn, grow, and thrive.

We started Pink Week to remember Eileen. She may no longer be here with us, but her kindness, her laughter, and her love for others’ lives on in every act of giving, every moment of connection, and every shade of pink. She’s still the heart that beats inside our team.
