Day 3: Chiang Mai
After arriving in Chiang Mai and heading to the hotel, it’s time to explore in a rickshaw to some famous sites, thus helping to preserve this traditional profession. Head to Warorot market by the Ping river – a huge market selling everything from local delicacies to flowers and homewares. Next, visit two separate communities famous for local handicrafts – brass makers and silversmiths. Learn about their craft and see examples of their work. Admire the gilded designs and buddhas at the Silver temple.
Day 4: A day in the life of a Chiang Mai dessert maker
Enjoy a Discova-exclusive experience learning about Pa Noi, Auntie Noi, a dessert-maker in Chiang Mai. Learn from this retired teacher about the importance of Thai desserts to the local culture and their relevance to local festivals. Witness how the desserts are made, from shopping to cooking to preparing for a business day and, of course, there is also time to taste some of the creations with some tea in the afternoon.
Day 5: Chiang Mai
